Meet Your sommelier
Kasandra hasenauer
With more than 25 years in the hospitality industry, Kasandra Hasenauer has built her career around one simple belief: great wine should be approachable, memorable, and is meant to be shared.
Her journey began in restaurants, where a passion for exceptional hospitality quickly evolved into a fascination with wine. Over the years, Kasandra has held leadership roles with nationally recognized hospitality groups, including Landry's at Universal CityWalk, Tavistock Restaurant Collection, Hillstone Restaurant Group, ZED451 in Boca Raton, and celebrity chef Jeffrey Zakarian's Point Royal at the Diplomat Beach Resort. These experiences shaped her appreciation for thoughtful service, food and wine pairing, and the stories that make every bottle unique.
Committed to continuing her education, Kasandra earned the WSET Level 1 Award in Wines and the Court of Master Sommeliers Sommelier certification. While these credentials strengthened her technical knowledge, they also reinforced what years in hospitality had already taught her: wine should never feel intimidating.
In 2022, Kasandra brought that philosophy to life by opening The Southern Cellar in downtown Valdosta. More than a wine bar and bottle shop, The Southern Cellar was created as a place where guests could ask questions, discover something new, and feel comfortable exploring wine without fear of saying the "wrong" thing.
That same vision inspired The Valdosta Collective. Every month, Kasandra personally tastes and curates each selection with the goal of expanding members' horizons beyond the familiar. Rather than reaching for the same bottle time and time again, members are introduced to new grape varieties, regions, producers, and styles from around the world- building confidence and a more well-rounded palate with every pickup.
For Kasandra, the greatest compliment isn't hearing that someone loved a wine they already knew. It's hearing someone say, "I never would have chosen this on my own." That's what The Valdosta Collective is all about: discovering new favorites, sharing unforgettable bottles, and making wine education enjoyable, approachable, and accessible to everyone.
