Valentines Day
Valentine’s Day at The Southern Cellar begins the moment you step inside…soft candlelight, low conversation, and the quiet confidence of a space designed for lingering. You start with a glass of Jansz Tasmanian Premium Rosé, its fine bubbles and bright red fruit setting the tone for the evening, or perhaps a classic Veuve Clicquot ‘Yellow Label’ Brut to mark the occasion properly.
Plates arrive thoughtfully and at an unhurried pace. The Brie, Honey & Grapes, warm French brie finished with Georgia honey, roasted grapes, and marcona almonds, invites sharing from the start. The table fills naturally: Sesame-seared Tuna Tataki with ponzu, Butternut Squash Ravioli with sage brown butter and toasted walnuts, or the always-crowd-pleasing Heritage Meatballs simmered in tomato fondue and finished with creamy stracciatella. A basket of house-baked focaccia appears when it should, meant to be torn, passed, and enjoyed without a second thought.
As the night unfolds, another pour finds its way to the table…maybe a Pinot Noir from Willamette Valley or a Rioja Reserva, something quietly expressive that holds its own alongside the food and conversation. Time stretches comfortably; nothing feels rushed.
Dessert closes the evening gently. A slice of Dark Chocolate Torte with its velvety center, or Italian Lemon Cream Cake layered with mascarpone and lemon curd, paired with a glass of 10-Year Tawny Port or a final sip of Sauternes. It’s not about excess, it’s about balance, intention, and being exactly where you are.
This is Valentine’s Day at The Southern Cellar: warm, intimate, and thoughtfully composed…an evening meant to be savored from first sip to last bite.
